As a registered Charity (518928) all funding must be raised by donations, sponsorship or fundraising events. Without the generous support of individuals, groups and local companies the team would not be able to operate. The team are grateful for all the support we receive and you can be assured that any money we receive will contribute towards the cost of running the team and our ability, when required, to potentially save lives.
The team members give up their time voluntarily and receive no payment or expenses, however having the equipment, vehicles and support facilities to operate and potentially save lives is an expensive business. With no Government funding, just raising the money to operate each year, competing with other worthwhile causes, is a mammoth task.
We have a fundraising team who coordinate our efforts in various ways to raise the necessary funds for us to operate. Throughout the year the team raise funds in many different ways including our annual sponsored event BBMC, attendance at various shows, presentations to local schools organizations and events often involving special challenges for team members. However without the support of the public and local companies the team would find it very difficult to raise the necessary funds. The team are grateful to all the individuals, groups and companies who have helped the team through donations, raising money from sponsorship or who have provided necessary services such as vehicle servicing and MOTs.
Raising funds is a constant requirement with much of the activity being labour and time intensive. If you think you can help by:

There are many ways to raise money, from running a marathon, to organising a cake sale or having a car boot sale. If you are planning to compete in or organise an event you can have fun and raise money for Longtown Mountain Rescue Team. We get no government funding, so we rely entirely on individuals or groups nominating us as a worthwhile charity to support. This support helps us raise the necessary funds to cover our operating costs so we can continue to go to the assistance of individuals in distress.
The team is grateful for the assistance we have received from sponsors. The services, equipment and sponsorship they have provided over the years has helped greatly in supporting the team allowing us to continue to operate.
